I think that everyone in Japan loves cherry blossoms( さくら)and recently even in America many people are coming out to see the yearly event.

There is a famous Cherry Blossom festival in Washington D.C. each year. America received a gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo in 1912.

You know, it reminds me of a story I heard about cherry trees and George Washington, who gave his name to the city.  Every American probably knows this story.

Actually, it’s a legend. A legend is a story that is not totally true.  (This story is probably NOT true at all, but it’s a good story.)

When George was a boy he cut down a cherry tree to try out his new axe (hatchet お能) and his father was very angry. His father asked George, “Who cut down this cherry tree!?”

George, was  of course, very honest and said, “I cannot tell a lie, father, you know I cannot tell a lie! I did cut it with my little hatchet.”

His father was so happy that George was honest, that he wasn’t angry.

Full story here

(What would your father do if you chopped down a cherry blossom tree…?)

Well, I wanted to share some pictures. Everyone takes pictures of cherry blossoms; Why don’t you show me yours pictures, too?

Thanks for reading.
